This is a RARE, finest quality example of a COMPLETE molar tooth from a prehistoric extinct elephant called Gomphotherium sp.. This giant of the last Ice Age was a bizarre prehistoric ancestor to the modern day elephant. Finding complete, unbroken fossil teeth are very rare of this animal with most discoveries being only partial pieces of the teeth. Specimens showing the complete crown are NOT common which makes this a VERY valuable tooth for research or study as well as a display piece to demonstrate the unique properties of teeth from these extinct beasts.
The enamel is in the finest condition, jet black and naturally lustrous with slightly bluish gray highlights. The tooth has not been painted or coated with any artificial sealers or colors. It is 100% NATURAL AND WITHOUT ANY REPAIR OR RESTORATION. A highly recommended fossil tooth of a lesser-known class of prehistoric elephants.
