CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GIANT BEAVERS
This is one of the finest and largest upper tusks we have ever offered of the prehistoric GIANT BEAVER, Castoroides ohioensis. It is extremely robust and in the highest quality of preservation one could hope for. The tip is complete where it was worn against the lower tusk. This is a VERY RARE quality specimen as large complete examples with the intact tip are scarce. This is the number one desirable fossil of the prehistoric GIANT BEAVER. The detail of its very unique design make it a 'must have' specimen from this huge and strange creature from the Pleistocene. The main incisors are THE most coveted fossil of this bizarre and fascinating creature and any FINE QUALITY fossil remains of giant beaver are very difficult to ever find on the market. The enamel of this specimen is in stunning condition with jet black hue and a speckled salt and pepper color near the tip where it would have been exposed out of the skull. The tip shows wear on the ventral side where it abraded against the lower incisor as the creature gnawed - an indication that this is the COMPLETE TUSK and not a partial middle section that IS common and worth considerably less. This is not a partial section but is a COMPLETE tusk from where it emerged from the skull to the tip and it isUNBROKEN. COMPLETE AND INTACT WITH NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION.
