This rare Summerville Angustidens tooth once graced the jaws of a giant killer shark believed to be two generations of evolution from the famous massive Carcharocles megalodon shark.  The teeth of C. angustidens are sometimes confused with C. auriculatus.  The teeth look similar but teeth from C. angustidens date back to the Oligocene period and have less pronounced cusplets on each side of the crown.  We see in the next evolutionary species, C. chubutensis, that these cusplets start to blend in with the crown and are nothing more than pronounced bumps above each side of the root compared to separate processes as in C. angustidens.

C. angustidens teeth from Summerville come from the Chandler Bridge Formation dating back to the Oligocene, 28 million years ago.

If you collect fossil shark teeth that are uniquely colored with an unusual aesthetic, this tooth comes with high recommendations!  This is a very rare white Angustidens fossil shark tooth with incredible patterns of blue and gold in the enamel.  It is a beautiful example and features excellent detail to the serrations and tip with light natural feeding wear.  The root is a complimentary white and gold and is complete with superb preservation.  Very slight natural feeding wear but otherwise a true gem of a collector-grade tooth!  This tooth is as found and has NO RESTORATION OR REPAIR.
