REEDOPS
TRILOBITE LAB PREPPED
- Atlas Mountains, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
This is
an example of a Reedops cephalotes hamlagdadianus trilobite from the Devonian deposits in
the Atlas Range at the edge of the Northern Sahara. It is a
breath-taking example in a pure gem intense olive green and
orange!!! Not only is it a beautifully and NATURALLY colored example
but its state of preservation and detail is superb. The entire
creature is intact and near perfect with only a tiny portion that has
been restored just behind the left eye on the cheek amounting to less
than 1% of the overall creature and barely noticeable to the naked
eye. Unlike
typical trilobite fossils, this is a professionally
prepared example using high-tech
micro-abrasive equipment to fully expose every bit of tiny detail.
The end result
was worth the extra expense and labor and has produced this fascinating,
fine quality fossil. The
trilobite sits way up from the rest of the original brown limestone
matrix making for an incredible display and one of the most beautiful
Reedops we have seen. One area also worthy of mention is the super
detail in BOTH eyes as shown. This feature alone is a key feature
to a fine quality trilobite specimen and certainly, so well preserved
here. PURE
GEM OF A SPECIMEN - THE IMAGES SAY IT ALL!!!
