DIACALYMENE HUGE DOUBLE TRILOBITE CONCRETION - Ktaoua Formation, Morocco

LOWER ORDOVICIAN PERIOD:  505 - 438 million years ago

Of all the specimens of this trilobite, Diacalymene ouzregui, we have acquired, these represent the largest to date as of this postings and they are uniquely positioned!  One Diacalymene trilobite is "riding piggyback" on the other.  Both are perfectly preserved and of the finest condition.

This rare example is 100% natural and has no restoration, only repair from fractures that were necessary to break open the nodule.  Once in a while we come across a double but never with trilobites this large.  The first image shows the nodule assembled and the last shows the parts laying side by side as it is opened.  Both halves are included.

This choice example is from the Ktaoua Formation (a once prehistoric ocean floor) from Morocco.
