THYSANOPELTIS
TRILOBITE LAB
PREPPED
- Atlas Mountain Range,
Southern Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
Very
rare in its genuine form, this Thysanopeltis trilobite is a remarkable
natural specimen. It is a very graceful and bizarre type of
scutellid with fragile and delicate pygidial spines as its
hallmark. Due to the delicate nature of this species,
well-preserved examples are very uncommon. This specimen is an
above average example with wonderful detail to its spines. Very
minor restoration to a few small areas of the main body. The
entire trilobite and the surrounding rock surfaces have been carefully
lab-prepped with high-tech micro-abrasive equipment to fully expose every bit of tiny detail.
The end result was worth the extra expense and labor and has produced
this wonderful quality fossil. Usually
found in a dark gray or black, this 100% natural fossil sports a
gorgeous olive gold hue to the entire trilobite. Where pygidial
spines are not present, they have not been recreated. If you
desire to add an authentic and beautiful Thysanopeltis to your
collection, this example is an excellent candidate! UNCOMMON
