HORNED
CYPHASPIS LAB
PREPPED - Atlas
Mountain Range, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
The
"Devil-Horned" Cyphaspis trilobite was a fascinating and delicate creature of the ancient
seas. The bizarre set of horns forking out from the cephalon set
this species apart as an extremely
rare variety not
to be confused with the more common non-horned Cyphaspis specimens. All spines
on this superb example have been carefully exposed and supported by
their surrounding genuine limestone matrix. They protrude
off the trilobite exactly as they were when this creature was
alive. Due to their fragile nature, there is only the most minimal
restoration (less than 1%) strictly limited to a couple of the spine
tips otherwise, there is no restoration to this authentic and exquisite
example.
This rare
specimen has been carefully and skillfully prepared with
modern micro-blasting equipment under a high-power microscope. The
result is meticulous removal of all matrix and complete preservation of
the most minute ORIGINAL AND COMPLETELY NATURAL details.
Worthy of
any museum exhibit as well as your private collection, this genuine Horned Cyphaspis
is a must have for those collectors that demand only the best!
