HUGE
PARAHOMALONOTUS TRILOBITE LAB PREPPED -
Hamar
Laghdad Formation - Erfoud, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
The
Parahomalonotus planus planus species trilobite was a beautifully simplistic and streamlined
creature. Its segments are so delicate and fine, it is more akin
to looking like a fat worm rather than a crustacean. Very few
genuine specimens can be found on the market, even less than the rare
spiny types of trilobites from the Devonian. Of the ones that are
found, most are so poorly preserved that they are not worth
showing. Every collection should include a fine example of these
odd species when one can be located. If you fancy odd trilobites
and only want the best, this specimen will likely be one of the finest
examples of these you will find. Prepared
in our own facility here in Orlando, Florida, this fantastic and very
large Parahomalonotus
is one of the largest of this species we have ever found. Usually
found enrolled or disarticulated, this specimen is neither and
represents a rare opportunity to secure a prize example. The
animal is complete with the most fascinating "roller-coaster"
articulation and has been expertly prepared to sit up above the rock as
if still alive. The entire trilobite has been meticulously lab
prepped with micro-abrasive equipment to best expose the delicate
detail. The surface of the creature displays some signs of
degeneration in comparison to some of the other types of the Atlas Range
and of the Devonian but for this species, this specimen ranks right at
the top as an AAA type! A superb
display fossil of a seldom encountered type. Very highly
recommended! SUPER
