ARISTOHARPES TRILOBITE
LAB PREPPED
- Atlas Mountain Range, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
As a
great model for a futuristic spaceship design, the Aristoharpes is one
of the most artfully streamlined trilobites that ever existed in the
Devonian. Its graceful genal spines sweep back to seemingly
protect as they envelope its thorax and its central cephalon (head) sits
way up above the wide flange of its free cheeks and surrounding
border. This is a very rare trilobite to find in a fine quality
with no restoration or serious deterioration.
Simply
breath-taking! You can't help gazing at the beauty of this amazing
example and certainly ranking as probably the finest Aristoharpes we
have ever had. This award-winning example was prepared by us in
our own lab with modern micro-abrasive equipment. It is very large
at nearly 2" long. The creature is enrolled in the death
pose, a position that is believed to be the posture trilobites took when
endangered or in death similar to a modern day pill bug. The
surface and inflation are incredible and we can proudly claim this magnificent
specimen has absolutely not a speck of restoration anywhere on it. The thorax is extremely finely detailed with each
and every segment, a positive indication no fakery exists as this detail
is not reproduced in such restoration like it looks in the real
examples. The surface of the specimen is very well-preserved and
naturally colored a dark olive green. The genal spines sweep back
and are still supported on the matrix but in an open presentation with a
large area completely free of matrix inside these sweeping spines. This
is truly a spectacular Aristoharpes and looks even better than the
images. Again, NO RESTORATION and such a remarkable state of
preservation and labor-intensive preparation makes this beyond
"museum grade". BAR
NONE, ONE OF THE BEST NO RESTORATION EXAMPLES WE HAVE EVER
SEEN!
