ARISTOHARPES
(HARPES) TRILOBITE
LAB PREPPED
- Atlas Mountain Range, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
As a
great model for a futuristic spaceship design, the Aristoharpes, also
known as the HARPES trilobite, is one
of the most artfully streamlined trilobites that ever existed in the
Devonian. Its graceful genal spines sweep back to seemingly
protect as they envelope its thorax and its central cephalon (head) sits
way up above the wide flange of its free cheeks and surrounding
border. This is a very rare trilobite to find in a fine quality
without serious deterioration.
This
stunning example was prepared with modern
micro-abrasive equipment. It possesses some of the finest surface
detail and there are even some areas where the original fossilized
carapace of the trilobite is still present. The
surface of the specimen is very well-preserved and sports a rare 100%
natural colored hue. Typically the thorax is
restored and lack of segment detail is the sign of restoration.
This example has its original thorax and the creature died in a
partially enrolled pose so the thorax is tucked underneath its cephalon
(head) and is still partially embedded in the rock. The thorax is
complete.
In this
day and age of unbelievable
quantities of fake and heavily
restored trilobites, this rare and seldom available specimen is backed by our
unconditional guarantee of authenticity and genuineness of the creature. RARE
