NEOMETACANTHUS
( MRAKIBINA ) TRILOBITE LAB PREPPED
- Atlas Mountain Range, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
Similar
in ways to a Metacanthina trilobite, this highly
collectible and rare type is
called NEOMETACANTHUS or NEOMETACANTHINA and MRAKIBINA in some circles.
The longer sweeping genal spines and elongated pygidial spines are what
sets this species apart from its Metacanthus cousin. True
Neometacanthus trilobites are seldom seen on the market. This
amazingly well preserved specimen poses a rare opportunity to add to
your collection one of the best examples of this species we have seen.
The surface of the creature is wonderfully intact. BOTH eyes are
as perfect as they come and fine lens detail is shown above - a rare and
prized feature. Prepared in our own lab, this trilobite has been meticulously
freed from its matrix with micro-abrasive equipment to best expose the
delicate detail. Much more labor is involved but the end result is
a much finer trilobite with excellent features preserved and ready for
the finest display. For
one of the finest examples that can be had, this is a highly recommended
Neometacanthus.
BOTH
EYES IN FINEST PRESERVATION AS IS REST OF THIS AAA SPECIMEN! 3.2"
x 3.2" with original matrix, animal 1.7" in length
