MOROCCONITES
TRILOBITE LAB PREPPED
- Atlas
Mountains, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
The
Morocconites malladoides trilobite was a bizarre creature of the ancient
seas. As the "unicorn" of the Devonian trilobites, this
wonderful invertebrate is quite rare in genuine form. Due to the
fragile nature of the projecting point off the cephalon, it is VERY
common to recreate these by using putty or carving a fake one in the
rock and painting it black. The demand for authentic
Morocconites specimens is very strong and they are always in VERY limited supply. We
guarantee the genuineness of the spine
and we proudly offer this rare trilobite with lab-preparation and
micro-blasting to the complete surface for exquisite
detail.
This
exquisite specimen has been carefully and skillfully prepared in our own
facility right here in Orlando, Florida. It is a fantastic example
of this rare trilobite and proudly carries NO
RESTORATION.
The pose is a beautiful "death pose" as the creature is
enrolled in a position some have theorized trilobites would put
themselves in when faced with danger. On the rock, it looks as if
the bug is still alive, slinking its way over the matrix.
Worthy of
any museum exhibit as well as your private collection, this fossil of
superb, investment quality and features fine detail and a genuine
cephalonic spine. The overall surface is well preserved with only
one small area on the supra orbital region of the cephalon where it
missing. This in no way detracts and blends in with the surface crevices.
This 100% genuine Morocconites trilobite has been meticulously
lab prepped with micro-abrasive equipment to best expose the
delicate detail. Much more labor was involved but the end result is
a much finer trilobite with excellent detail.
