ODONTOCHILE TRILOBITE LAB PREPPED - Hamar Laghdad Formation - Erfoud, Morocco

DEVONIAN PERIOD:  395 - 345 million years ago

The Odontochile trilobites are of a graceful and beautiful design.  With their long genal spines and streamlined pygidium terminating in a fine point, it can easily be seen why trilobites have been called "the butterflies of the ancient seas".   

This example is in a highly displayable partially enrolled position as it sits bent over the matrix.  The entire trilobite has been meticulously lab prepped with micro-abrasive equipment to best expose the delicate detail.  Some very important and desirable features to point out: the famous orange eyes are present, pygidial spine is completely exposed and 100% genuine, no restoration anywhere on the trilobitel.  One eye shown above in the images is exquisite with complete lens detail and the other has several nicks on the surface but the lens detail can still be seen.  This is a HUGE example measuring at 4" if straightened!  That is a very rare size and adds to the rarity and value of this fine and highly collectible example.
