ASTEROPYGE TRILOBITE LAB PREPPED - Mt. Issoumour - Atlas Mountains, Morocco

DEVONIAN PERIOD:  395 - 345 million years ago

This little gem of an Asteropyge looks like a tracked military vehicle making its way over the desert.  The articulation and pose are to die for (pun intended).  There is incredible relief and surface detail throughout the entire creature.  It is very hard to see but the middle region of the thorax is laterally compressed in an awesome and fascinating manner.  There is not a bit of restoration on this rare and choice example.  Creature is intact and of the finest preservation that can be had!

This excellent fossil trilobite was hand-selected for its choice quality and then carefully micro-blasted with state-of-the-art equipment to truly bring out the best in the specimen.  There is absolutely no restoration of any kind and even the finely detailed compound eyes can be clearly seen in BOTH eyes.  Another wonderful feature is the highly-prized natural and original red limestone that the trilobite is on.  This is only found in the famous red layers of Mt. Issoumour in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco.
