METACANTHINA ISSOUMOURENSIS (ASTEROPYGE) TRILOBITE Mt. Issoumour - Atlas Mountains, Morocco DEVONIAN PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago As is typical in the never-ending saga we call 'science', this species has been known as Asteropyge and Kayserops and as of this listing, is named Metacanthina issoumourensis. It is a very fine example with a stunning pose and display as it died in a dramatic arched backwards position. Fine detail and relief with natural coloration. Creature is of excellent preservation on gorgeous natural red limestone only found in the famous red layers of Mt. Issoumour in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco. Plate of eye lenses missing on left eye and minor erosion but otherwise a very high quality example. The pose really sets it off!
