ASTEROPYGE (KAYSEROPS)
TRILOBITE LAB
PREPPED - Mt. Issoumour -
Atlas Mountains, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
As is
typical in the never-ending saga we call 'science', this species has
been known as Asteropyge and Kayserops and as of this
listing, is named Metacanthina issoumourensis. It is a very
fine example with choice detail and relief throughout. The
partially enrolled articulation is known as a 'death pose', a position
trilobites took (like modern day pill bugs) when threatened or prior to
death. There is not a bit of restoration on this rare
and choice example. Creature is of excellent
preservation on gorgeous natural red limestone! This is only
found in the famous red layers of Mt. Issoumour
in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco. The entire trilobite has been meticulously lab
prepped with micro-abrasive equipment to best expose the delicate
detail. TOP
