LARGE
DOUBLE PARALEJURUS AND ODONTOCHILE
TRILOBITE
Alnif, Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
Probably
one of the largest Devonian Era trilobite display specimens we've seen,
this large and impressive NATURAL double fossil features two different
types of trilobites. The rock alone is massive and when standing
on one end as shown in the first image, it is truly breath-taking to
see. The two trilobites are passing like the Barry Manilow song,
"We're two ships that pass in the night..." or in this case,
"We're two invertebrates that pass in the muck and we smile when we
realize we're stuck...". (sorry, I couldn't resist.) Both
of these trilobites are in their natural state and color. The
Odontochile is huge at 4" long if straightened. The
Paralejurus is also a full size and large example. The Odontochile
sports the highly prized orange eyes and fine lens detail is present as
shown above. The relief and positioning of each of these large
bugs is extremely dramatic,'as found' and completely natural. The
limestone matrix is genuine and original. THIS IS NOT A COMPOSITE
AND BOTH TRILOBITES WERE FOUND AS SHOWN. Less than 1% restoration
to this spectacular large specimen!!!
This
double species trilobite specimen was professionally prepped with high-tech micro-blaster
equipment in our lab in Morocco. Dozens of hours went into the task of completely freeing
the areas shown. Highly
recommended and a great value for those collectors or curators that
demand the superb display specimens of size.
