PARALEJURUS TRILOBITE
LAB PREPPED -
Atlas Mountains,
Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395-345 million years ago
Like
some armored vehicle right out of the next Star Wars movie, this
fascinating trilobite species, Paralejurus dormitzeri, would fit right in with any
science fiction fantasy. Nevertheless, this is a real creature
that once graced the prehistoric oceans of what is now the Atlas
Mountain Range in Northern Africa.
This
is a Type A example of this trilobite known as Paralejurus
dormitzeri.
It is superbly posed and fully inflated in a natural charcoal hue. Shown lab-prepped on its
original light gray limestone matrix, this very good grade specimen
makes for an interesting display as the trilobite is positioned as if
crawling up and off the rock.
Unlike
basic commercial trilobite fossils, this is a professionally
prepared example using high-tech
air micro-abrasive equipment to fully expose every bit of tiny detail.
The end result was worth the extra expense and labor and has produced
this fascinating, nice
quality fossil. INTERESTING
