CROTALOCEPHALUS
TRILOBITE LAB PREPPED
Atlas Mountain Range
(Northern Sahara Desert), South Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
More and
more, as time goes by, quality trilobites from the Devonian limestone
deposits of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco as getting harder to
locate. This beautifully preserved Cheirurus (Crotalocephalus) gibbus
species is quite a superb example and a must have for the
collector demanding quality. It has been micro-blasted and
carefully hand-prepared for the best preparation of the creature.
Beautiful naturally colored dark olive green creature. Positioning of the trilobite is
fascinating in its 'roller coaster' articulation and is well-centered on the matrix. A bizarre
and fascinating species of the Cheiruridae order of trilobites, the Crotalocephalus (Crotalocephalina)
which means "snake head" trilobite, is an ugly
duckling yet, desirable addition to any collector's
cabinet. With it's fat, bulbous snout, tiny eyes and strange
raised surfaces down its lobes, the Crotalocephalus trilobite is one of our personal favorites. NICE
SPECIMEN IN VERY COOL 'ROLLER COASTER' POSE!
