PARADOXIDES NATURAL DOUBLE TRILOBITE BED - Anti-Atlas Mountain Range, South Morocco

CAMBRIAN PERIOD:  543 - 510 million years ago

At the northern fringe of the Sahara Desert there are Cambrian deposits that produce three types of natural-hued Paradoxides trilobites.  The limonite stain on the creatures are found in orange, dark brown and black.  This incredible NATURAL DOUBLE of Paradoxides displays a very rare occurrence of two colors not typically found together, orange and dark brown.  Not only is this natural wonder a rarity unto itself as a genuine double of the largest known trilobites but the natural color is an extra bonus that makes this a real investment grade specimen.  Very rarely is the actual limonite staining on the stone where the animal died evident.  Here, you can see the natural coloring dominates the specimens.

This GENUINE slab of two incredible and complete Paradoxides trilobite specimens deserves a cherished place in a museum, corporate office or some very fortunate collector's display case.  This specimen is a special rare listing and the above images show the exquisite detail that this fossil exhibits.  The last image is of the back where the two trilobites overlap.  This solid area of limestone is obvious proof that these are not two artificially joined trilobites.  The close-up images of the detail of both specimens shows the beautiful and seldom seen state of preservation that dominates the fossil.  Both of these trilobites have the natural color stain still intact.  A thin clear preservative has been applied over each creature to protect this feature.  The orange trilobite has only approximately 5% restoration limited only to the genal spines and free cheeks.  The lower brown trilobite has less than 1% restoration limited to a tiny region on the edge of the glabella.  This restoration was not to fabricate areas that were missing but to repair damage to the genuine specimens incurred while being extracted from the rock formation.  Either of these trilobites would be incredible rarities as single fossils but the fact that both have been found and excavated together elevates this prize display fossil to the ranks of SUPER RARE!

This genuine bed consists of two science grade specimen trilobites and are the finest you will find anywhere.  If you've always wanted a GENUINE multiple plate of honest museum class Paradoxides specimens then this large and wonderful example is a must!
