PARADOXIDES TRILOBITE POSITIVE / NEGATIVE - Anti-Atlas Mountain Range, South Morocco CAMBRIAN PERIOD: 543-510 million years ago This complete positive and negative paradoxides specimen has been cherished by me since the day I purchased it. It is the rarest condition specimen I have seen in this species. Excavated from the Paradoxides Beds in the Sahara Desert, Morocco this is a condition never encountered. Not only is there NO RECREATION of the animal, but the matrix is complete!!! and both positive and negative pieces are present. Most collectors are very familiar with this popular species. Unfortunately, most are also well aware of the prevalence of the typical and very extensive recreation and outright complete faking of this trilobite that goes on in the market. This is the "primo" king of all paradoxides fossil specimens out there. You will be hard-pressed to find any equal to this gorgeous and ultra-rare example. If you are the type that does not settle for second best or if you are a museum buyer wanting a true, correct and immaculate specimen of the paradoxides trilobite, then you just found it! There's no painting or faking in this piece. The fossilized creature has been treated with a thin, clear preservant to protect the impression. This was only applied to the NATURAL areas of the fossil impression so as to be true to the completeness of the specimen. No preservant was applied in a manner to "recreate" areas of the creature that simply did not exist. Considering this, you can see in the above photos that this truly is a remarkable example of this type and displays anatomy of the trilobite that is almost never found in a natural state such as this.
