ORTHOCERAS
& AMMONITE FOSSIL STONEWARE SERVING FOSSIL PLATTER
Atlas
Mountain Range (North Sahara Desert), Morocco
DEVONIAN
PERIOD: 395 - 345 million years ago
These
large serving platters are hand-carved from the most beautiful and
valuable fossil-bearing stone in Morocco. Only the finest blocks
of stone of this specific color are first selected. Then the block
is sliced into thin sheets to avoid wasting any more precious stone than
necessary. Each slab is then hand-shaped and polished into these
incredible platters. The patterns and colors are beyond
words. Both ammonites and orthoceras are scattered throughout the
caramels, gold, grays, burnt oranges and blood reds in the stone.
The workmanship and
beauty must be seen to be fully appreciated.
This
large platter is an amazing work of art that must be seen to be
appreciated. If "unique", "rare" and
"fine quality" are important words in your tastes, then this
is a strongly recommended piece that is as functional as is beautiful.
Pattern and colors will slightly vary but all are hand-selected and the
finest of those crafted.
