OUR FINEST EVER AMAZING BLUE, BLACK AND WHITE GIANT DIRE WOLF CARNASSIAL MOLAR TOOTH WITH ROOT AND BONE

Venice, Florida, U.S.A.

PLEISTOCENE PERIOD:  1.8 million - 10,000 years ago

From the Venice, Florida coastal fossil deposits, this is UNQUESTIONABLY the absolute more beautiful and FINEST Dire Wolf fossil meat-shearing carnassial tooth we have ever come across.  This is the primary and largest molar of the notorious Dire Wolf, scientifically known as Canis dirus.  It is especially large and in classic Bone Valley Formation colors that are the most prized colors when found in the area's shark teeth fossils but you almost never see this color in Ice Age fossil mammal teeth not to mention of such spectacular preservation as this specimen exhibits.  Top quality Dire Wolf fossils are rare and desirable but this one is off the chart when it comes to its breath-taking beauty and color.  Jet black and blue crown with a touch of gold, COMPLETE AND INTACT root that transitions from Royal blue to white and there's even the original stark white jaw bone still attached to the unbroken root.

Tooth is as it was found and is the best we have ever seen, period!  NO REPAIR OR RESTORATION.

The DIRE WOLF is one of the most popular and certainly, was one of the most dangerous predators of the last Ice Age in North America.  First described in 1858 from a find in Evansville, Indiana, U.S.A., the Dire Wolf ranged across North America as the most prevalent canid during the late Pleistocene.  The Dire Wolf was the largest wolf that ever lived during this time period.  With its massive skull larger than any other wolf species known, and extremely large muscle structure in the jaws, this predator was able to catch and hold very large prey and crush bone in its jaws lined with its enlarged carnassial teeth.  It has been estimated that the Dire Wolf was as much as 20 percent larger than the largest known Alaskan wolves.
