MASS DEATH ASSEMBLAGE OF MIOCENE FOSSIL SAND
DOLLARS IN MATRIX WITH SEA COW RIB
Faluns de Touraine, France
MIOCENE PERIOD :
19 - 15 million years ago
We have offered some amazing
and rare specimens of prehistoric marine life but this will likely be
one of of the more visually impressive. This is an
INTACT
block of Miocene Period sand dollar and sea cow fossils together in a
mass death assemblage. The matrix is original and the sand dollars
and sea cow rib bone were found and exposed exactly as you see them.
The detail of each sand dollar is superb and the presence of the sea cow
rib adds incredible character to this RARE specimen. The entire
front surface is very multi-dimensional. All the fossils on this
specimen are in fantastic original preservation. Sand dollars are
ECHINOIDS and are members of the echinoderm family. They were
living creatures that lived on the bottom of soft ocean floors.
The species represented here is called Scutella stelatta.
For advanced prehistoric
marine life fossil collections or for the fancier of ocean life from the
past, THIS SPECIMEN IS A MUST! We collected ONLY TWO specimens
from our Summer field trips this year so this specimen and the other
smaller example are all we have! A highly unusual and immensely
attractive showpiece fossil of recognizable origins for the average
layperson. MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
NO FABRICATION OR ARTIFICIAL
ASSEMBLING OF THE FOSSILS IN THEIR ORIGINAL MATRIX.
