LINGYUANENSIS ON MATRIX -
Yixian Formation, Liaoning Province, China
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 122 million years ago
more rare then the Chinese marine reptile fossil Keichousaurus, the
Sinohydrosaurus is seldom encountered and therefore, hardly known.
Somewhat similar in appearance but smaller to the
Keichousaurus, this prehistoric marine reptile has only become recently
available and in extremely limited numbers. The name translates into
SINO (China) HYDRO (water) SAURUS (lizard). Like all specimens we
sell, this exotic creature is guaranteed 100% genuine. Something
to emphasize with all the numerous fake Keichousaurs now flooding the
market. Compared to a
genuine Keichousaurus, the Sinohydrosaurus is far more rare.
dinosaur-like marine reptile is part of the Jehol Biota Group and was found in the
Yixian Formation between the Liaoning Province and Inner Mongolia.
The Jehol Biota Group ranges from the Late Jurassic to the Early
Cretaceous and is famous for the several species of bird fossils and
dinosaurs found with primitive feathers.
creature's name Sinohydrosaurus lingyuanensis was officially chosen by
the Beijing Nature History Museum but was later changed to Hyphalosaurus
lingyuanensis by the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and
Paleoanthropology in Beijing. We prefer the use of SINOHYDROSAURUS
due to it's explanative meaning.
specimens are extremely rare and are COMPLETELY intact and
genuine. There is NO RESTORATION OR RECONSTRUCTION of the creature,
GUARANTEED, only repair of the matrix where fractured during
excavation. The future availability of this very-highly desirable
species is extremely limited.
