RARE
WHITE LARGE CHOICE GRADE VELOCIRAPTORINE DINOSAUR TOOTH
Tegana
Formation - Kem Kem, Morocco
LATE
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 96 - 66 million years ago
Many
African dinosaurs are yet undiscovered and/or identified.
Saharan expeditions in the recent years have yielded incredible new discoveries
of many species never known to exist including a yet-to-be-named
dromaeosaur. There are likely several species of African
dromaeosaurs, ranging from the size of a
peacock up to the size of Velociraptor, that have never been attributed
based on wide ranging characteristics of the teeth.
This is a
classic dromaeosaur " raptor " dinosaur tooth from a dinosaur
the size of Velociraptor. It is a very rare WHITE COLOR, a hue we
have seldom collected compared to the more typical darker browns and
reds. This spectacular grade example is
INTACT
and
WITH NO RESTORATION AND NO REPAIR.
It possesses a laterally compressed body and dagger-shaped profile.
The serrations run sharp and detailed down the entire length. The tip
exhibits an intact needle-sharp tip. Also rare
is the size. It is quite large as seldom
do dromaeosaur teeth exceed half an inch in length. Most raptors were
only knee-high and about the size of small dogs, hence the very small
teeth that are usually found. This is a wonderful tooth of a
seldom seen fine grade.
