LARGE NEARLY 5 INCH SPINOSAURUS TOOTH Tegana Formation - Kem Kem, Morocco LATE CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 96 - 66 million years ago This mammoth-sized dinosaur tooth would have over 6 inches long had the tip not been worn. Than again, with such a large creature, it is nearly impossible to find teeth in this size range that are not worn considering the amount of eating a large dinosaur would have had to do to sustain such massive body weight. With only minor wear on the tip, this entire tooth is of unbelievable condition and preservation with no repair and no restoration! You will not find a nicer condition tooth of this size that has not been tampered with or enhanced. This is the largest INTACT tooth we have in our inventory and came from a completely full grown and very large Spinosaurus. It is an honest, near 5 inch specimen. The few light fractures are only partial and are from age and not a cause of damage from excavation or mishandling. The enamel on this massive beauty is dramatically ridged and completely intact possessing superb preservation and sheen. The hue is the classic warm hot orange and walnut brown. A robust portion of the root is also present with fantastic "lunar landscape" surface detail on the end of the root where this tooth had been firmly attached to the jaw bone. Both sides are shown above to demonstrate the choice quality of this investment grade fossil tooth. A common trick in the market is to attach either a bunch of sand mixed with glue on the end of the tooth's root to exaggerate the length or even worse, glue another tooth's root on to the end and disguise the seam with more sand and glue. In either case, these look like very large teeth but they are faked. Don't be fooled when you are shopping for ANY large dinosaur teeth. These are common practices of both unscrupulous and uninformed dealers. It really pays to know who you are buying from! I see both of these practices done quite frequently in the large tooth market and numerous junk teeth are selling for ridiculous high prices. (ESPECIALLY in the online auctions!) The dinosaur this specimen came from would have been the maximum size creature known! Teeth in this size and this condition are nearly priceless since very few exist to compare to. We strongly recommend this amazing example to any collector because prizes like these are sure to be strong investments in even the near future considering the current state of the source and its nearly exhausted supply of large teeth.
