HUGE INTACT SPINOSAURUS
DINOSAUR TOOTH -
Tegana Formation - Kem Kem, Morocco
LATE
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 96 - 66 million years ago
Of the
few remaining large Spinosaurus teeth still available to the public, we
have yet to see any that come close to the rarity and value of this
incredible example. All are either repaired, restored or even
faked (gluing a root of one large tooth on the base of another and
covering with matrix) to attain the stated length. With this
example, despite matrix still being attached to the tooth, the display
side as shown, has been exposed all the way to the base giving clear
evidence of the true size of this whopper specimen. Out of
thousands of teeth we have personally had in stock over the past years,
we have only had less than 5 that were of this size and
INTACT with no
fractures or repairs of any kind.
THIS TOOTH HAS NO REPAIR OR
RESTORATION
and because of this and its size, this is one of the rarest
Spinosaurus teeth you will find anywhere. Almost always, when a
tooth reaches near 4" and over, it is heavily worn, aged,
fractured, etc. Look at the condition of the enamel and tip on
this treasure!!! It is almost PERFECT! Amazing in this size,
the tip is pointed and fully intact with excellent form and only one
minor bit of feeding damage on the reverse side which does not detract
from the value or rarity. The enamel is gorgeous ON BOTH SIDES
and
is the deepest wine red and plum with blood red and orange
highlights.
Every
feature of this tooth is hard to find nowadays in even 2" teeth,
not to mention a 4.25" tooth!!! To protect this exceedingly
rare fossil tooth, we have chemically hardened the end and areas of the
encrustation to take every precaution to prevent any damage to this
tooth. Unlike many large teeth on the market
that are mostly root compared to the overall length, this is an
honest-to-goodness whopper tooth that is mostly tooth above the
jaw.
In
today's market, Spinosaurus teeth of this size and quality with no
repair or restoration, are unheard of. Probably very few still
remain available for sale that have not been fiddled with to enhance the
appearance, size, etc. This is a legendary specimen and a sure bet
as far as investing in rare fossils. There is no repair or
restoration done on this tooth - guaranteed! Diggers are not
finding teeth like this any more at the site and when they did, this
kind of tooth was ALWAYS a RARE FIND. Without a doubt, one of the
rarest Spinosaurus teeth we have ever had (out of over 2500 teeth) and
the finest and rarest UNTOUCHED specimen we have ever seen. BEST
AND RAREST TOOTH WE KNOW OF STILL AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC!
