SPINOSAURUS
DINOSAUR TOOTH -
Tegana Formation - Kem Kem, Morocco
LATE
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 96 - 66 million years ago
This
mammoth-sized dinosaur tooth would have been 7 inches long had the tip
not been worn. Than again, with such a large creature, it is
nearly impossible to find teeth in this size range that are not worn
considering the amount of eating a large dinosaur would have had to do
to sustain such massive body mass. This is the largest tooth we
have in our inventory and came from a completely full grown and very
large Spinosaurus. The root is very complete and gives indication
as to the necessary strength and anchor such a tooth needs from such a
ferocious animal with extreme bite force. This exceptionally large Spinosaurus tooth is a
VERY rare example and despite its somewhat rough appearance and wear, it
is as every bit valuable as any slightly lesser-sized tooth in pristine
condition. There have been a few repairs performed but they do not
detract considering such incredible size. Enamel is dramatically
ridged as is typical on very large examples and the vast majority of the
rich walnut-hued enamel is intact with a nice gloss. Tip is not
broken off from mishandling but exhibits ONLY natural wear from
the dinosaur's constant use in feeding. Best side is
shown.
Teeth in this size are
rarely available on the market. Any specimen that even approaches
5 inches always carries a hefty price tag. As we are a major and
direct source for many dinosaur teeth, we are able to offer such a
rarity for a reasonable price. I strongly recommend this
amazing example to any collector because prizes like these are no longer
being found and steady appreciation of prices in the market are already
reflecting that. WITH
TIP INTACT, THIS WOULD BE A 7 INCH LONG TOOTH!
