INVESTMENT GRADE 4.5 INCH UNBROKEN SPINOSAURUS TOOTH

Tegana Formation - Kem Kem, Morocco

LATE CRETACEOUS PERIOD:  96 - 66 million years ago

Ahhhh, yes.  It doesn't get much sweeter than this!  This remarkable investment grade SPINOSAURUS dinosaur tooth is one of THE FINEST large dinosaur teeth that we have ever handled!  Despite all the rare and supreme quality Spinosaurus teeth we have handled in the past many years, there has been only one other INTACT tooth that was this size and near this quality.  This specimen offered here exceeds that one in enamel quality, beauty and sharpness of tip.  It's a fact that teeth like this are VERY SCARCE and seldom found due to depleted and overworked deposits where these fossil are dug.

Just look at that tip - it is 100% genuine, undamaged and perfectly preserved with all its naturally lustrous enamel.  In the thousands of teeth we collect and have dealt with, this tooth will always rank as one of the finest and certainly one of the rarest Spinosaurus teeth we have ever seen.  It is 100% INTACT - NOT A SINGLE BREAK THAT HAS BEEN REPAIRED - NOT A SINGLE CHIP OR WEAR FACET ON THE NEEDLE-SHARP TIP!  As you might know, this is extremely rare in large dinosaur teeth.  Not only is it unbroken, it is in the finest possible state of preservation that you could find in a Spinosaurus tooth.  The tip is UNWORN and remarkably pointed for coming from such a large dinosaur where most teeth this size are worn down to a stump or badly damaged from feeding.  The enamel is incredible and a portion of the root is still attached to the crown.  In every way, this is most certainly a prize and sure to impress even the most disinterested in fossils!  Base has been stabilized to protect its amazingly rare intact state.  A rare opportunity to finally acquire a caliber of dinosaur tooth that is now near impossible to find for sale.  The images speak volumes and if you like these photos, you should see the tooth in person - it's even better!

WARNING:  A common trick to fake large dinosaur teeth in the market is to attach either a bunch of sand mixed with glue on the end of the tooth's root to exaggerate the length or even worse, fabricate a giant impressive tooth by combining and blending multiple teeth sections together to appear as one massive tooth.  The workmanship of one notorious United States-based faker is of the finest workmanship and VERY convincing in appearance.  Don't be fooled when you are shopping for large dinosaur teeth of ANY SPECIES, not just Spinosaurus.  These are common practices of both unscrupulous and uninformed dealers.  We see these "doctored" large dinosaur teeth offered quite frequently and numerous junk, worthless teeth that have been converted and heavily modified are selling for ridiculously high prices, mostly at shows and on the internet.  Ebay is one of the worst places for this where fraud runs rampant and unchecked in the entire rare collectibles field!

The remains of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus were first discovered by a German collector in 1912 in central Egypt.  A variety of pieces were recovered including a skull and teeth.  On the evening of April 24, 1944, a British bombing run on Munich destroyed these and many other rare fossil specimens.

Spinosaurus is one of the longest and strangest of all carnivorous dinosaurs.  At 50 feet long and 4 tons in weight, it was truly a monster!  Its most unusual feature was a row of broad club-shaped spines 6 feet tall, projecting upward from the backbone.  It's believed that these spines were covered with a sail of skin which could be raised by the creature as a social display or as a way to regulate body temperature.

To this day, no other dinosaur has been found with such tall and broad-shaped neural spines.  Fossil remains of Spinosaurus aegyptiacus are only found in the North African Sahara Desert.  Contrary to the inhospitable desert environment where Spinosaurus fossils are found today, this region was a vast swampy tropical paradise abundant with life during the Cretaceous Period when Spinosaurus was alive and inhabiting its muddy river shores and bogs.
