UNBROKEN CREAM-COLORED CARCHARODONTOSAURUS
DINOSAUR TOOTH
"Taouz" region
of the Sahara Desert, Morocco
LATE
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 96 - 66 million years ago
Found over two years
ago and now of a quality that is rarely discovered, this superb and
highly rare BLONDE enamel Carcharodontosaurus tooth is a specimen that
you will never want to upgrade. In an unheard of state of
preservation, this example
HAS
NOT BEEN REPAIRED OR RESTORED WITH ANY FILLERS OR SAND! The
separations on the surface are expansion cracks from age and do not go
through to the other side. They have been stabilized to protect
the integrity of this remarkably rare specimen.
This light tapioca
blond tooth is one of the rarest hues we encounter at the formation.
To further add to the beauty, the enamel seems to be spattered with
blood but it is actually a natural color pattern in the enamel caused by
the fossilization process. The pattern is not the enamel peeling but is the color
in the INTACT
enamel as shown. This robust example features nice, fine serrations and
tip with only minor surface wear from the dinosaur's feeding. The
round cross-section indicates this tooth occupied an anterior jaw
position. A minor surface blemish on the upper display side does
not detract. The stunning white root portion is present for
wonderful contrast. Surface of tooth enamel is smooth and glossy with no peel. Again, this bizarre coloration is IN the enamel
and not flaking off enamel as it may seem.
