CARCHARODONTOSAURUS TOOTH
-
"Taouz" region
of the Sahara Desert, Morocco
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 96 - 66 million years ago
If it weren't for the
scattered areas of missing enamel, this would be literally a PERFECT
tooth. It appears as though it was never used by the creature as
there is no wear or damage on the tip and the serrations are in a state
of preservation that we have rarely seen on ANY large carnosaur
tooth. This has to be one of our most beautiful and rare teeth of
this fascinating dinosaur. The color is a deep brick red / walnut
brown and it exhibits the finest gloss and surface sheen. The
patches of enamel that are lacking and the reverse side lightly
encrusted with the original matrix do not detract as this is such a
superb shaped, preserved and sizable example. The most amazing
feature is that this
tooth is INTACT with no repair and no restoration!!!
This is super rare on teeth from the Carcharodontosaurus and truly puts
this tooth in a class all its own. Intact teeth that have
not been repaired always command a premium. This tooth is even better in person than in photos above. A
QUALITY NO LONGER FOUND - STUNNING SERRATIONS, NO WEAR AND
I-N-T-A-C-T!!!
3" long on the
curve x 1.25" wide
