NEAR 4 INCH HIGH GRADE CARCHARODONTOSAURUS DINOSAUR
TOOTH
"Taouz" region
of the Sahara Desert, Morocco
LATE
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 96 - 66 million years ago
Out of all the many
dinosaur teeth we have offered in past years, this specimen ranks as one
of the biggest, best and most rare. Each subsequent year has shown
that a tooth from this dinosaur in this size and quality is truly an
investment. This giant high grade dinosaur tooth is from
THE largest therapod that ever walked the Earth. Related to the Allosaurus and Giganotosaurus, this
tooth is from the terrifying Carcharodontosaurus saharicus, which
means "shark-toothed lizard of the Sahara".
Approaching a full FOUR INCHES, this
dinosaur tooth is in remarkable condition with minor fractures repaired
along what were the natural fissures formed through age. Coupled
with an awesome burnt orange pristine enamel present and choice
serration detail, this is a true investment in paleontology
specimens. This
North African carnosaur (meat-eating lizard) had a massive tail, a bulky
body, and heavy bones. Its arms were short and had three-fingered
hands with sharp claws. Carcharodontosaurus
grew up to 45 feet long, perhaps weighing up to 8 tons.
It had a skull 6 feet long. It had large, powerful jaws
with long, serrated, sharp teeth up to 8 inches long. Although
Carcharodontosaurus
was larger than T-rex, its brain was smaller. Carcharodontosaurus
was closely related to Giganotosaurus but not to T-rex.
Carcharodontosaurus
was a more primitive dinosaur than T-rex. Although
parts of these large carnivorous dinosaurs were discovered some time
ago, their huge size has just recently come to light. The first
almost complete Carcharodontosaurus discovered was being studied in
Germany but was destroyed by Allied bombing during WWII. A
recently unearthed specimen was reported to have the largest head of any
therapod known, larger than T-rex. Carcharodontosaurus
remains have been found in Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya and
Niger. This tooth was found in the "Taouz" region of
the Sahara desert in Morocco. This
specimen is EXTREMELY RARE and should be included in any serious
collector's cabinet while still available in this lifetime.
It
represents the rarest class available and is a MUST
HAVE for any true dinosaur aficionado.
