UNBROKEN 2.5 INCH CARCHARODONTOSAURUS TOOTH WITH CHOICE ENAMEL "Taouz" region of the Sahara Desert, Morocco LATE CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 96 - 66 million years ago Simply a beauty of a dinosaur tooth! At 2.5 inches, this is a choice grade UNBROKEN Carcharodontosaurus tooth. From tip to base, the tooth is solid and without any repair. The original pointed tip is present. Both sides are solid and the enamel is stunning in an intense blood red and pumpkin orange with exceptional natural sheen. Stunning grain can be seen across the smooth surface on both sides. The serrations are worn in on the trailing edge, caused by feeding when the dinosaur was alive. Teeth like this are scarce now and the site is hardly producing any good qualities after decades of extensive, high pressure digging efforts. NO REPAIR and NO RESTORATION. This tooth was found several years ago when fine condition teeth were more prevalent. If you are looking for a well-preserved tooth in this size class, you will be hard-pressed to locate a better specimen! Quality Carcharodontosaurus teeth such as this example represent one of, if not THE fastest appreciating dinosaur teeth on the market. Caveat emptor when it comes to buying authentic dinosaur teeth. This specimen's body is all original but numerous large dinosaur teeth now on the market are either heavily restored or a composite of multiple teeth to create a large single one.
Although parts of these large carnivorous dinosaurs were discovered some time ago, their huge size has just recently come to light. The first almost complete Carcharodontosaurus discovered was being studied in Germany but was destroyed by Allied bombing during WWII. A recently unearthed specimen was reported to have the largest skull of any therapod known at six feet in length, larger than T. rex! Carcharodontosaurus
saharicus is the largest meat-eating dinosaur known to have ever lived on
the Earth (along with Giganotosaurus - now believed to be the same
creature). Before its discovery, Tyrannosaurus rex was thought to be
the largest but this monster
exceeds T. rex in size and really is the
"king"! Carcharodontosaurus had a massive tail,
stout body mass, and heavy bones.
Its arms were short and its hands had three fingers with sharp claws.
Carcharodontosaurus
grew up to 45 feet long, had a 6 foot skull and is estimated to have
weighed eight tons. 
It had large, powerful
jaws with long, serrated, sharp teeth up to 8 inches long. Carcharodontosaurus was
larger than T. rex but its brain was smaller.
