DELTADROMEUS TOOTH - Tegana Formation of Kem Kem, Morocco

CRETACEOUS PERIOD:  99 - 93 million years ago

With the several offerings for "Deltadromeus" teeth, it is easy to take for granted the true rarity of this dinosaur's remains.  Unfortunately, we have yet to see a single properly identified Deltadromeus tooth available for sale outside of our company.  (read warning in red below)  This tooth is one of the rarest types of fossil dinosaur teeth we find in the northern Sahara and the existence of this creature has only recently been discovered.

This fine example is a rare opportunity to acquire a well-preserved specimen at an affordable price.  In a recent trip that was the culmination of most of this year's collecting efforts, we were very fortunate to collect a handful of these teeth to offer.  This is one of the smaller yet fine grade examples.  The tip is complete with virtually no damage.  Serrations run most of both edges with minor feeding wear.  Repairs and age fractures have been stabilized but there is no fabrication to parts of this rare tooth.  The enamel is a bright orange / red hue and shows a glossy surface amazingly well preserved with excellent grain.  A top grade specimen and a GENUINE Deltadromeus tooth, not a common misidentified raptor tooth like all the other dealers pass off as coming from this large carnivore.

Deltadromeus agilis was a meat-eating dinosaur believed to be an early offshoot of the therapod line that led to the development of tyrannosaurs and raptors in North America.  This carnosaur is greater than 25 feet in length and is 8 feet high at the hip.  Estimated weight when the creature was alive is 3.5 to 4 tons.  Deltadromeus approaches the size of Tyrannosaurus yet, was a swift and agile hunter.

*** CAUTION:  MOST DEALERS ARE CURRENTLY SELLING SMALL (1" AND UNDER) UNIDENTIFIED RAPTOR TEETH OF MUCH LESSER VALUE AS DELTADROMEUS AGILIS TEETH.  THIS IS PREVALENT OF NOT ONLY MANY ONLINE COMPANIES BUT ALSO ONLINE AUCTION SITES LIKE EBAY WHERE SUCH MISREPRESENTATIONS ARE THE NORM.  YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A PALEONTOLOGIST TO UNDERSTAND THAT A 25 FOOT MEAT-EATING THERAPOD THE SIZE OF A JUVENILE T. REX DID NOT HAVE TEETH SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN A DIME!

A FINE SPECIMEN COMPLETE WITH FULL TIP AND DETAILED SERRATIONS!
