DELTADROMEUS
TOOTH -
Tegana Formation of Kem Kem,
Morocco
LATE
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 99 - 93 million years ago
Probably
one of the rarest dinosaur teeth from North Africa and often
misidentified, the teeth from Deltadromeus are a real prize catch when
found in fine condition. This is a choice grade specimen that is
FAR better in person than even in the photos above. Exquisite
glossy wet enamel of a burnt pumpkin orange and gold hue. INTACT
with no restoration or repair. Dramatic and well preserved
serrations. Mottled hue is in the color of the enamel and not a
surface defect. Very minor surface blemish on enamel but in no way
detracts from this rarity. A beautiful and robust tooth from the
anterior of the jaw.
Deltadromeus
is a meat-eating dinosaur believed to be an early offshoot of the therapod
line that led to the development of tyrannosaurs and raptors in North
America. This
carnosaur is greater than 25 feet in length and is 8 feet
high at the hip. Estimated weight when the creature was alive is 3.5
to 4 tons. Deltadromeus approaches the size of Tyrannosaurus yet,
was a swift and agile hunter. SUPER
