TWO
ULTRA
RARE ASSOCIATED HYPACROSAURUS EMBRYO
VERTEBRAE
AND
ASSOCIATED EGG SHELL FRAGMENT
Two
Medicine Formation - Browning, Montana, U.S.A.
LATE
CRETACEOUS
PERIOD: 80 - 74 million
years ago
Despite
the tiny and seemingly dimension of these two dinosaur vertebrae and
shell fragment, this is perhaps, one of the most rare of any dinosaur
fossil you will find. All three fossils were found together in
association in a Hypacrosaurus stebingeri nesting area of the famous Two
Medicine Formation in Montana, U.S.A.. While eggshell fragments
can occasionally be found on the public market, genuine DINOSAUR EMBRYO
FOSSILS are so rare that seldom do they ever make it to the public for
purchase. These specimens were collected on a private ranch with
the owner's permission making them legal to own. It is quite
probable that we will never offer or you will ever see this kind of rare
material again ever for sale again. As
embryonic vertebrae, the processes have not formed yet. Both
vertebrae are from different regions of the spine as can be seen in the
varying thickness of the centrum which is all that has formed. Both
vertebrae are COMPLETE with NO REPAIR and NO RESTORATION.
Dinosaur embryo fossils have sold for well into the five and six
figure prices. For a small fraction of the cost, you can own a
genuine set of two embryo vertebra from this highly unusual dinosaur
along with an original fragment of the creatures eggshell. For the
dinosaur fossil enthusiast, it doesn't get more unique and rare as
this!
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Hypacrosaurus
is a member of the Hadrosaurid
family of dinosaurs. Its name means "high-ridged
reptile" owing to the bony crest on the top of its skull.
These dinosaurs had a large resonating nasal chamber that some scientist
theorize would have been used for communication in the form of
"bugling" like elk and moose. The nasal crests only
fully formed in adults for different age Hypacrosaurs would have made
different sounds. Similar to Maiasaura dinosaurs, Hypacrosaurus
stebingeri is one of the most completely known dinosaurs because all
life-stages of its bones have been found fossilized, from embryo to
adult. Remains have been found in massive bonebeds suggesting that
these creatures existed in herds. Communal behavior has also been
attributed to large nesting grounds found where subadult skeletal
remains have been found along with eggshell.
Hadrosaurs were
herbivores (plant-eaters) and only had teeth in the cheek area, not the
front of the mouth. The many rows of teeth were perfect for
effectively grinding up rough vegetation for easy digestion. This
unique group of dinosaurs grew in sizes over 40 feet and probably
weighed over 5 tons! In-depth studies of a variety of duckbill
remains indicate that these were strictly land-based dinosaurs that
walked predominantly on all fours but had the ability to stand on their
hind legs.
Hadrosaur
remains have been found in China, North America, South America
(Argentina) and Europe.
