TRICERATOPS
HUMERUS - Hell Creek
Formation, Montana, U.S. LATE
CRETACEOUS PERIOD: 65 million years ago This
very large complete fossilized humerus from a Triceratops dinosaur is
breath-taking when viewed in person and quite an impressive specimen.
The humerus is the long
bone of the upper limb or forelimb of vertebrates. The bone has
been preserved retaining a wonderful chestnut brown over most of its
surface shown here. The entire bone has been professionally
repaired and restored with less than 15% filler to strengthen and level
cracks and missing areas. The entire bone has also been chemically
stabilized for strength and preservation. Triceratops is the most
famous of the great horned dinosaurs. This group has been found in
the fossil record in greater abundance than all the other varieties.
A full grown Triceratops is estimated to have weighed 11 tons, heavier
than a modern African bull elephant. Its skull was 6.5 feet long
with a pair of brow horns that exceeded 3 feet in length. For
a genuine AND LEGALLY COLLECTED complete large dinosaur bone from this
world-famous deposit, this
specimen represents
the finest and rarest quality available and is a MUST HAVE for any true
dinosaur aficionado.
