HILDOCERAS
SEMIPOLITUM AMMONITE
- Airvault, France
JURASSIC PERIOD (LIAS - TOARCIAN SUBSTAGE): 184 - 175 million years ago
From the
Toarcian substage of a Jurassic deposit in France, this very large example
of the Hildoceras semipolitum species ammonite displays all the desired
traits of a top grade specimen. The centrum is as perfect as can
be and the characteristic ridge on the outermost shell edge is
wonderfully preserved and intact as shown in the last two
images.
For a
unique species of Jurassic ammonite and probably one of the most
aesthetic types, this is one of the nicest examples we could offer as
well as one of the largest. A beautiful marine creature that once
thrived in the vast Jurassic seas of what is now West Central Europe. BEAUTIFUL
COLOR, FORM AND DETAIL - A MUST HAVE ADDITION FOR THIS SPECIES!
