VERY RARE GREEN
PHYLLOCERAS
AMMONITE
- Grafenberg, Germany
UPPER JURASSIC PERIOD
(MALM): 154 - 144 million years ago A
VERY rare occurrence can be found at an exclusive Upper Jurassic
fossil-bearing site in Germany. The ammonites have been preserved
a beautiful and completely natural GREEN hue in the light gray host
rock! We were fortunate to collect a very small number of rare
ammonites from this
site. All but this specimen were of the Perisphinctes
variety. This VERY RARE Phylloceras supraliasicum was the only one
collected and is highly uncommon from this deposit. Even more
interesting, it sports a mint green tone in varying degrees to
compliment the cool gray matrix still partly attached in a small region
on the reverse.
This
highly collectible ammonite was found is sure to please the ammonite aficionado.
The characteristic septa of this species is dramatically intact and
shown above in the close up images. A fantastic reference specimen
as well, we cannot recommend this one enough.
A unique
site and a beautiful specimen for collectors desiring rare
and uncommon fossils!
